Startled By Storm - D. L. Moody

Peace In A Damaged Ship

"God's peace transcends our storm to make us enjoy His Presence and focus on His power." — Abraham Israel

During a sea voyage from Southampton to New York, the evangelist D. L. Moody was suddenly startled by a crash and shock. The shaft of the vessel had broken, causing serious damage. That first night was a dark experience for the ship’s several hundred passengers. Crowded together in the saloon of the first cabin were Jews, Protestants, Catholics, and skeptics—although Moody doubted if there many skeptics among them at that time.

Sunday morning dawned without help or hope; as night came on, Moody asked permission to hold a service in the saloon. Nearly every passenger attended. Steadying himself by a pillar, Moody read out Psalms 91 and 107:20-31; he prayed that God would still the raging of the sea and bring them to their desired haven. Psalm 91:11 was profoundly touching: “He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”

Moody had thought himself superior to the fear of death; he had preached on it, been fearless under fire during the Civil War, and visited the sick during a terrible cholera epidemic. But on that sinking ship it was different. He knew that there was no cloud of sin between his soul and Saviour—but what of his beloved ones at home? It almost broke him down. He had to have relief, and that came through prayer.

God heard his cry so that from the depth of his soul, Moody could say, “Thy will be done!” Sweet peace came to his heart. He went to bed, fell asleep, and never slept more soundly than in all his life. “Out of the depths I cried unto my Lord, and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears” (see Psalms 130:1 and 34:4)—that was Moody’s experience.

At about 3 A.M., Moody was roused by his son. A steamer had seen their signals of distress! It undertook to tow the damaged ship 1000 miles to Queenstown. If a storm arose, the cables connecting the two vessels would snap like a thread, but Moody was confident that God would finish what He had begun. The steamer’s captain, a man of prayer, sought God’s help in the task. Though storms were all around, none came near the broken ship. A week after the accident, due to God’s good hand upon them, a joyous thanksgiving service was held in the Queenstown harbour.

God's Love The Greatest!

The Greatest Act Of God's Love Is Salvation Through Jesus Christ

Åρ☺ṧ☂◎ℓї¢ ℐᾔ﹩℘ḯґαт☤☺η :

When Jesus was on this earth, He said: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). This is the Gospel—the good news of Jesus Christ!

“For God” - Who showed the greatest love
“so loved” - the greatest amount
“the world” - the greatest number
“that He gave” - the greatest act
“His only begotten Son” - the greatest Gift
“that whosoever” - the greatest possibility
“believeth in” - the greatest simplicity
“Him” - the greatest Attraction
“should not perish” - the greatest promise
“but” - the greatest difference
“have” - the greatest certainty
“everlasting” - the greatest possession.

"God's love is immeasurable, immovable, untamable, unchangeable, everlasting, ever loving, never changing, never rude, always forgiving, always friendly, hates sin, helps sinners, shows the way to heaven, showers your way with heaven. When we see that the greatest things in life are not what can be bought with money, then we come to understand that the greatest thing in this life on earth is Love that God has showered on us in Christ Jesus to make us as His children and shower His blessing and life forevermore." — Abraham Israel

The Ultimate Price For Our Sins

The Leap Of Faith To The Luxury Of Faith!!!

Åρ☺ṧ☂◎ℓї¢ ℐᾔ﹩℘ḯґαт☤☺η :

The very thought of humbling and accepting ourselves as spiritual beggars who are actually sinners in need of the Savior Jesus' cleansing blood to wash us clean and give us salvation from sin becomes the stumbling stone for many religious minded people who even say that they are Christians by birth.

God has no grandchildren but he has from the toddlers to juveniles to adults to old people as His children who have put their faith in Jesus death as the substitutional sacrifice before God for their own sins, and believe that He is the perfect redemption price for all their sins of past, present and future time. Those who think that because of their Christian or religious heritage they automatically qualify to be God's sons and daughters are deceived if they are not born again and have not the Spirit of Christ within them.

God has given an equal opportunity for all humans to become His children, He himself has said in His Word, "12 But as many as received Jesus, to them God gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in Jesus' name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12-13, Paraphrased). Human tendency to work out our own salvation without accepting ourselves as sinners in need of the Savior is the root of pride that leads all of the religious minded people to go straight in to hell fire for eternity to be away from God and his goodness forever and ever.

God has clearly told that Jesus has paid the full price for all our past, present and future sins, and all we need to do is to believe that truth and accept that "8 ... by grace we have been saved through faith, and that not of ourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works that we do or have done for God, lest anyone should boast about it before God, and be destroyed in pride before God like Satan. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them by the strength that comes from Him and Him alone." (Eph 2:8-9, Paraphrased).

The next time you meet a friend that is self-righteous to be saved by his own works, share the truth of the full Gospel of Jesus Christ with them and pray for them to get saved from sin and destruction that awaits all humans who are apart from Jesus Christ to face death at the end alone. May God open our inner eyes and ears of our heart to fully understand to lean on the perfect redemption of full price that Jesus Christ paid for us, obey the Gospel by walking in the strength of God as saints who love one another, having forgiveness and being kind to each other, doing the good works that God has beforehand prepared for us who are saved. You cannot save yourself by your good works, but once you are saved you can keep doing the God prepared good works to glorify God in your day to day life through the grace that comes from God through Jesus Christ who died for your sins, rose up on the third day by God's power to make you stand just as if you have never sinned before God at all. Now that you have been made a saint in Christ Jesus, walk worthy of His calling by hating sin and loving God for His grace through faith. This is actually the full gospel.

Now that JESUS HAS SAVED US IF WE HAVE ACCEPTED OURSELVES AS SINNERS IN NEED OF THE SAVIOR BEFORE GOD, He has sacrificed Himself for us and have already walked before us as OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE OF FAITH IN ACTION to please God by doing His will, let us also likewise learn to do God's will and follow Jesus Christ in our character to please God and enjoy a eternity of friendship and favor with Him.

"Faith is like the hand of the beggar that takes the gift while adding nothing to it." ~~~Thomas Chalmers~~~
